The 4th annual Passion for Motherland Showcase took place on Saturday, 20th August 2016 at the Holiday Inn hotel, in the heart of London. It was a fantastic event, highly enjoyable, and it puts us a giant step closer to our goal.
The night combined a vibrant fashion show with amazing live music from internationally acclaimed Congolese musician Gasandji. Mell Nyoko and Christina Fonthes delivered some incredibly powerful poetry – and the audience was held captive by our guest speakers Alimatu Dimonekene and Dr. Karen Johnson.
Proceeds from the event will go to helping provide shelter, food, healthcare and education for up to 300 children over the next 3 years.
“As the Democratic Republic of the Congo develops and grows after years of struggle, it is important that no one is left behind – especially not the children”, said Passion for Motherland CEO, Lisette Mibo. “We need to care for the street children in Kinshasa and other cities. That is the only way in which we can really heal our nation”.
Dr. Karen Johnson said, “We all want a world where women and children are treated with dignity and the Passion for Motherland Showcase was a great celebration of that ideal”.
Anni Domingo was also present. The actress said, “It was a wonderful evening, really entertaining, but at the same time with a strong message of hope for homeless children”.
